The new amenities to be constructed comprise a surf life saving club operations base, members’ clubhouse, and a multipurpose community and education facility.
The design incorporates a state-of-the-art lifeguard operations wing, enlargened storage to bring all club assets onto one site, a club lounge, and several outdoor social areas.
A purpose designed emergency medical station will be shared with the local First Response group.
A dedicated class room / teaching facility will support school / educational groups undertaking field trips to Muriwai. It has the flexibility to double as additional meeting and function space.
Bunkroom style accommodation for 40 people is available for club members, schools and visiting groups.
A community lounge can cater for 120 people seated dining style, or 200+ in a theatre style configuration. Wide span retractable doors and excellent indoor/outdoor flow can see this space expand to accommodate 300+ people for large functions.
A catering standard main kitchen supports functions and residential groups. Smaller kitchenettes in the lifesaving wing and club lounge allow the main community lounge and kitchen to be used without compromising surf club activities.
Careful attention to layout sees the facility able to be used by 3-4 groups concurrently without spatial conflict.
Smaller meeting rooms, storage and display / trophy areas are provided for local sports and community groups.
The Muriwai Sports Fishing Club with its 240 members, along with several smaller clubs and interest groups, will domicile in the new facilities.
